A series of 30 small paintings on canvas mounted on board, each approximately 5×8 inches. These studies were painted across two coastlines in one season — beginning in San Pasqual Valley, California, and finishing at my studio in Rockport, Massachusetts overlooking the water.

Each piece is a single moment of attention: a color shift, a quality of light, the feeling of a place at a particular time of day. Some carry the dry warmth of the valley. Others hold the glassy water and lavender skies from my studio views in Rockport.
